What and who powers Radio Bangsar Utama?

The ‘anarchist’, Hishamuddin Rais is a veritable magnet that attracts the attention of the alternative (political) media. Aside from his column in Malaysiakini, which constantly beats the rhythm of discontent, he has a blog, which he named ‘Tukar Tiub’ and his very own Radio Bangsar Utama.

His vacuum cleaner of a blog, which readily sucks in the youthful detritus of undecided and mostly blind political minds, has thus far produced two understudies in the likes of Rahmat Haron and Amin Iskandar – both portal columnists with links to foreign sponsors.

Better known as ‘Black’, Amin Iskandar has graduated to the post of Assistant News Editor of another renegade pseudo news portal, The Malaysian Insider.

Radio Bangsar Utama, an offshoot of Radiq Radio

The alternative renegade radio project was mooted by Sonia Randhawa, whom detractors have readily labelled as a ‘foreign agent’ at the Malaysian campus of Monash University and the community-funded independent New Era College.

Sonia Randhawa was introduced in a working paper submitted by the Institute for Democracy and Reform (INDEFOR) to Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR). The incriminating letter was duly discovered on the premises, and through which she was appointed the director of the Centre for Independent Journalism (CIJ), responsible for the training of causes founded on freedom of information to specific groups in Malaysia.

Part of Sonia’s profile in the paper described her as an editor at Radiq Radio, which was an independent radio station operating from 2001 till 2004.

Besides Sonia, the paper introduced three other characters, namely Cynthia Gabriel (Executive Director of SUARAM), Ibrahim Suffian (Merdeka Centre) and Azizuddin Ahmad (ABIM).

A handwritten note on the front page of the paper referred to the US-based foundation, the National Endowment for Democracy (NED).

According Allen Weinstein, who helped draft the legislation establishing it, the NED was established in 1983 as a CIA front for international control agenda, hidden aptly behind the cloak of project funding for ‘democracy.’

A 2007 annual report of grants to Malaysia, it was recorded the CIJ headed by Sonia had received USD15, 000 in 2007.

At one time, Malaysiakini reported that Rahmat had worked with Radiq Radio.

Pro LGBT activist, Shanon Shah, who was the Executive Director of Amnesty International Malaysia (AIM) is said to be part of the deal.

The colour yellow prominently used as the theme of Radio Bangsar Utama is almost identical with the shade of yellow used by the amnesty.org website.

Incidentally, the same shade of yellow is the chosen colour of BERSIH and the recently infamous JANJI BERSIH , of which Hishamuddin Rais is among the core imitators.

Investigative writer of Land Destroyer Report, David Carlucci wrote in his piece, “A foreign-funded movement for a foreign-serving agenda,” Amnesty International and the Human Rights Watch (HRW) are two international human rights organisations sponsored by no other than George Soros, through his Open Society Institute (OSI).

In his article, “Amnesty International is US State Department Propaganda”, Carlucci expounded on the intimate link between Amnesty and the US State Department.

Close ties between Maria Chin and Hishamuddin Rais

In a book written by Kamarazaman Yaakob titled “Bersama Anwar ke Penjara” (With Anwar in Prison), the writer, who was a former president of PMUM (University Malaya Students Association) tells how Hishamuddin Rais had at one time hid in the late Usman Awang’s house before escaping abroad in 1974.

According to Kamarazaman, another PMUM activist, who followed suit was Yunus Lebai Ali.

“Yunus Ali fled the country. He was a PMUM activist, who joined the PLO while abroad,” said Kamarazaman.

The description given by Kamarazaman, who is the elder brother of Minister for Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob is as though Yunus Ali sacrificed himself for the Palestinian struggle all his life.

However, according to a Malaysiakini’s recording in memory of Yunus Ali, his wife Maria Chin Abdullah sees it differently.

And besides Maria, the portal interviewed three individuals who were close to Yunus. They were Hishamuddin Rais, Amin Iskandar and Dr Rohana Ariffin – all labelled as ‘fine’ examples socialist stalwarts.

Maria Chin recalled her meeting with Yunus Ali in London in 1979, the point from which things began to roll.

She said her husband’s stint as a fugitive abroad finally came to an end when the couple returned to Malaysia during Tun Mahathir’s era as Prime Minister.

Upon returning, Yunus formed the National Institute for Electoral Integrity (NIEI), which aimed to recruit the younger generation in efforts to change the political system.

Besides NIEI, Maria Chin was active in other human rights and feminist NGOs, including EMPOWER and SUARAM, which is essentially the spine propping up BERSIH.

According to the website gndem.org, NIEI is an offshoot of the Asian Network for Free Elections (ANFREL), which is an organisation operating out of Bangkok, and NAMFREL (The National Citizen’s Movement for Free Elections), based in the Philippines.

Also included, was BERSIH as one of the movements under both ANFREL and NAMFREL.

According to former CIA operative, Philip Agee, NAMFREL is sponsored by the CIA.

“CIA’s  modus operandi was to setup a strong organisation (NGO) in the Pacific region, which will involve itself in what is termed as ‘election observers’ or something to that effect.

“The first that I came to know of was NAMFREL in the Philippines, which was formed circa 1950-1951 as among the country’s efforts to fight rebellion.

“And we implemented it through NAMFREL …NAMFREL inspired the much used war cry ‘People Power,” he said.
