Datuk Ron: Anwar is a very confused person
“I really must tell Anwar Ibrahim that he is a very confused person,” said former Parit Sulong Member of Parliament, Datuk Ruhanie Ahmad during the launching of TIBAI (Reject this Individual Called Anwar Ibrahim) at the Sultan Sulaiman Club in Kuala Lumpur on April 22.
More popularly known as Datuk Ron, Ruhanie told the audience about the time he was a die-hard supporter of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim -- when the latter was still in the government in 1988.
“At that time I was the president of the Backbenchers Club, and in charge of between 40 to 50 Barisan Nasional (BN) MPs, who were not holding any posts.
“I was asked to get my friends to ‘crossover’…how could he have the heart to do that…I am an UMNO person, and he had the audacity to ask me to cross over and be a turncoat.
“And so I said…Pak Sheikh (Anwar), if you can get even one to cross over tomorrow morning, this is the one (pointing to himself) who will be a cow and jump across, “he said.
Datuk Ron told of how Anwar between 1994 and 1995 had made a pact with some UMNO members to topple Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who was at that time the UMNO president.
“So, today, Anwar has committed the biggest sin to all Muslims and the people of Malaysia…firstly, because he recognises the Jewish state of Israel.
“Secondly, for working together with the DAP towards the realisation of Malaysian Malaysia. My late father said the ‘Malaysian Malaysia’ concept was all about equality and equal feelings…but I don’t know what it meant to Anwar…you may have to ask Azmin about it…” he said.
It never occurred to Datuk Ron, who had known Anwar since 1969, that the de facto PKR leader, whom he had known for such a long time, would go to such an extent to satisfy his personal interests.
