Umno deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah should weigh his position in the party following his using the opposition platform to state his stand on the oil royalty issue.
He said Umno viewed the matter seriously and the Gua Musang division chief should understand that the platform he was using was not a government or Umno platform but one that was sponsored by PAS.
"Hence, this should not happen and we have been following his statements and I've myself observed that some of his statements were against the government and party's principles," he said after presenting awards to top achievers in the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) and Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR) examinations in the Besut district, Terengganu yesterday.
Muhyiddin was asked to comment on Tengku Razaleigh's action of stating his stand on the oil royalty issue via the opposition platform on Jan 28 at the Sultan Mohamed IV Stadium in Kota Baharu, Kelantan.
He said the former finance minister who was considered a veteran and experienced leader, should know better where he should stand.
