Rejection of new Selangor State Secretray shows fear, no less...

Whats the big deal?

The appointment of the new Selangor State Secretary is the legal prerogative of the Chief Secretary.

The incoming chap, Datuk Mohd Khusrin is a true-blue government servant who operates by the rule, so why pick on him?

For the boisterous Pakatan people in Selangor, why not for once think out of the box and go round the problem? Just work with the man and serve the people, rather than to be bogged down with the issue of 'their man and our man.'

Please do not let the people of Selangor suffer just because you want everything to your liking and preference. We practice a federal system, remember?

The resentment, I believe, stems from the fact that Khusrin was the head of JAIS just when the many fiascoes over Islamic matters reared its ugly head in Selangor. Hence, this chap is a convenient fall guy or scapegoat, which ever way one looks at it.

Ubah cara penguatkuasaan jalan raya!

Statistik kemalangan jalan raya semakin meningkat.

Pakatan's Call to Arms

There is no time to be wasted. This was the message drilled securely into the hearts and minds of over 2,000 members representing all the component parties in the rag tag coalition of Pakatan Rakyat at Dewan Millenium, Kepala Batas recently.

Although views were varied and disparate among the representatives, but one thing that managed to put a cap on things was the objective of the opposition coalition’s second ever major convention.

Peeling the glued ruptures and about-to-burst seams that made headlines over the past few weeks and months, especially in Selangor, Kedah and Penang, we cannot help but observe certain things, which may just raise its ugly heads at a drop of a coin. This shows how brittle Pakatan’s position is, regardless of what positive image they managed to project last weekend.

For PAS, the imperative was the leaders of all factions to learn from the philosophy of unity according to Islam.

With all the bravado exhibited through robust speeches by the three leaders of the pact – DAP Secretary General Lim Guan Eng, PKR President Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and PAS President Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, observers without solid knowledge of what caused the fiascos in all the three component parties previously may truly believe that everytrhing was well in Pakatan Rakyat, although it was not.

Seemingly to put everything in the back burner, the overall message was clearly to save this country from the ravages which they perceive as the cause of all the ills -- ills that they (Pakatan) never failed to highlight and use as fodder.

So, as it was portrayed, the march to Putrajaya and from there to bring back justice and ‘restore’ democracy to Malaysia was still on, never mind that even the most respected and authoritative voices among their ranks have lots of reservations about the lofty plan.

And so unabashedly, the three main leaders rambled on with national policies to be put in place under their administration.

DAP honcho, Guan Eng announced a 100 days programme for the rakyat through genuine reforms, which the coalition could implement when they reach Putrajaya. It was an unhesitant answer to the Barisan Nasional (BN)’s Government Transformation Programme entrusted by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to Pemandu, no less.

The Penang Chief Minister also warned the pact and its supporters to always be wary and to defend the constitution from being ‘hijacked’ by UMNO to split the people apart. By this he meant for them to always harp on the ‘actual’ meaning of Article 153, which they believe had been relegated to oblivion.

A pow-wow like this is something not to be taken lightly by the other side of the political divide. It should be seen as a call to arms to fortify the fort and look to the people within for support.

And no sooner had the convention’s message permeated to the grassroots that the challenge came rolling in the form of the upcoming Tenang State Assembly seat following the death of its representative, Sulaiman Taha.

As such, the few months ahead before the calling of the 13th General Elections will be quite contingent on a show of strength by both BN and Pakatan in that state seat in Johor.

We muslims say that our religion Islam is superior...but of course!

And so it was reported (spinned?) by Malaysian Insider's Debra Chong today that Muslim scholars at a recent forum organised by the International Institute of Islamic Understanding (IKIM) declaring that Islam was superior.

But, of course. Isn't this the same as those who profess other faiths declaring the same thing about their religious conviction? So, what gives?

Was the writer trying hard to impose her blinkered views of religion on the others?

Saying that one's religion is the best within a forum for like-minded people (read: Muslims) is not wrong in any ways.

It is the same if a congregation of other faith listen to a sermon saying this or that religion is wrong, misled or even a product of satanic persuasions. They are saying it within the perimeters of their caucus, so why in the world would anyone be bothered?

It is the colouring of such innocuous statements, especially by members of the press corp that causes confusion and provoke anger among the people.

Malaysian Consultative Council for Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism and Taoism (MCCBCHST) president Reverend Thomas Phillips, who commented on this was reported to have said, “It’s just a theological stand and everybody, every religion has its own.”

Hence, it that was the case why would the reporter ramble on about Phillips noting the remarks were provocative and could nip the budding relationship between the Muslim community and others?

As a man of god I don't think Reverend Phillips even thought about such things. I believe he is too wise to bother, not unless the writer took it upon herself to ad lib the comment out of context...

They say he did it!

The online edition of Australia’s Sydney Morning Herald quoted Singapore intelligence officials as saying that the de facto leader of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim actually did engage in the conduct (sodomy) for which he is currently standing trial.

According to the online paper the information exposed by the infamous online whistle-blowing site, Wikileaks, was relayed to Australia’s National Office of Intelligence (ONA) by its Singaporean counterpart, which went on to spin it as a case of entrapment by Anwar’s ‘enemies’ in Malaysia.

In a swift reply this afternoon Anwar tweeted the source of the report as coming from Malaysia’s Special Branch (SB) and that there was no proof of the allegation.

The information is among several cables that deal with private views of Senior Singapore officials, which included statements that said Malaysia was a “confused and dangerous” state as a result of incompetent politicians.

The alleged cable dated November 2008 that was exclusively released to Australia’s newspaper The Sun-Herald stated: ''The Australians said that Singapore's intelligences services and [Singaporean elder statesman] Lee Kuan Yew have told ONA in their exchanges that opposition leader Anwar 'did indeed commit the acts for which he is currently indicted'.''

The document went on to say the Singapore intelligence told ONA that the assessment was based “technical intelligence” believed to be intercepted communications.

Anwar sengaja menggugat kehormatan parlimen Malaysia

Selangor Water Issue : A Class Act or Crass Act?

The dam at Kuala Kubu Baru, Selangor

“PEOPLE kill each other over diamonds; countries go to war over oil. But the world’s most expensive commodities are worth nothing in the absence of water...”

This is the stark truth, which will not even spare us should water woes be sidelined and seen as something not significant enough to merit full and immediate attention.

Seemingly to have boiled over or painted to be as such, today’s crass act by the supporters of the opposition Pakatan Rakyat over the Selangor water issue is not one that should be ignored by Putrajaya or anyone else.

This issue, which has been long outstanding over the years, has even got the full attention of the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, who called for immediate action to resolve the crisis.

In attempting to resolve this matter, the Pakatan-led Selangor government should back down from its adamant stand in not allowing for the construction of the RM8.65bil Langat 2 water treatment plant, while hiding behind the excuse that there was no need to rush the project as the state had enough water to cater for demands right up to 2019.

However, to act immediately it must as the need for the continuous supply of this most important commodity is clear and present.

The state government’s stance in wanting to give priority to the restructuring of the water services industry in Selangor (read: tussle with Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor, Syabas) had caused a deadlock since 2009.

As for the Sultan, who rightly placed himself above all politics, the plight and welfare of his people is paramount to merit his wrath over the issue.

Sultan Sharafuddin called on all parties to put the interest of the people and the state first as he sees Selangor’s water problem can drive away investors and cause thousands of his subjects to lose their jobs.

Looking at things from a macro point of view, whichever party who wisely gives way to resolve this deadlock, will surely be smothered with undying allegiance and loving kisses from the people affected.

Take heed, for this is about the best in class act as opposed to the long-running crass act we see before us.

Taktik licik Pakatan Rakyat menghidupkan semula keghairahan budaya demonstrasi jalanan

TEKSI KUALA LUMPUR KOTORKAN IMEJ NAJIB.

Menurut Abu Kassim ujiannya amat ringkas.

Can something be learned from this?

An interesting article on America’s first lady and her social traits which many see as not so politically-correct as published by Yahoo! News and Politico.

Can we learn something here?...

“She has glamorized kitchen gardening, spotlighted childhood obesity and invited thousands of students, many of them minorities, to official White House events.

Expectations were high for a different kind of first lady, and in many ways Michelle Obama has lived up to them, maintaining the kind of high public profile that was widely anticipated when she and her husband came to Washington.

At the same time, she has been a victim of those expectations, disappointing some in Washington who hoped she would be a more expansive social presence, and eliciting the familiar criticism of recent first ladies that she keeps too much to herself.

In a new book on the presidency, “Revival: The Struggle for Survival Inside the Obama White House,” Richard Wolffe writes that because of the constant pressure of the past 22 months the president's circle of friends and confidants “shrank rather than expanded.”

Interviews with the spouses of administration officials and members of Congress as well as Washington social observers suggest that the same thing is true of his wife as well.

In many ways, Michelle Obama has emulated the president’s approach, relying on a close-knit group of friends and confidants from Chicago to help shape her agenda and find her way in a community that she has been wary of joining.

“There has been no attempt to reach out to people they don’t see as their people,” said the wife of a senior administration official, who doesn’t have Chicago ties. “They don’t reach out even to people in the administration who aren’t from their inner circle.”

“It’s extremely businesslike,” she added, before invoking a comparison with the early days of the Kennedy administration. “It’s not Camelot.”

And maybe that is the problem. The return to the White House of an attractive couple with two young children on a tide of idealism placed an impossible burden on both the president and his wife.

"Because of the campaign, people expected Obama and the first lady to revitalize some of the glamour of the White House and bring Camelot back to Washington," said Julian Zelizer, a professor of history and public affairs at Princeton University who has studied recent presidencies.

"But the realities of Washington make that difficult. We're in an era where it's hard to recreate Camelot. People are increasingly cynical about politics, and it's really a partisan world. I don't think either party would allow the president of the opposite party and the first lady to enjoy that kind of existence."

One telling indication of that reality: In the first few months in the White House, the Obama’s hosted a half-dozen cocktail parties to get to know members of Congress. As the health care debate became more heated last spring and Obama became more of a Republican target, the cocktail parties were abruptly ended.

To be sure, the first lady has made a concerted effort to establish "the people's house" by inviting thousands of guests to cultural shows at the White House including jazz, classical and Broadway performances. She opened up "the backyard” to host a series of sports clinics and other outdoor activities to promote her "Let's Move!" initiative and held more than a dozen events in her kitchen garden, which has garnered worldwide attention and praise.

And she and her husband have hosted Super Bowl parties for administration officials and members of Congress (and their families) on both sides of the aisle.

In 2009, according to a White House aide, the visitors office delivered "record-breaking attendance and welcomed more guests than any year post-9/11" with more than 600,000 people. In 2010, the aide pointed out that the office has already exceeded 2009 numbers.

And now with advent of the holiday season, the first lady is ramping up the social calendar, hosting more than a dozen parties for Congress, administration officials, news media, military families and wounded troops as well as civic, faith and business leaders respectively.

"We plan on welcoming over 100,000 guests in December alone and our total guest count is projected to be slightly over 800,000," the aide said.

“She has opened up the White House to so many groups of different people,” said Debra Lee, CEO of BET Networks and a longtime Obama supporter. “I went over the week after they first moved in and it already felt different.”

Lee, one of the nation’s most prominent black businesswomen, is emblematic of one of the most historic changes the Obamas have brought to the White House — the presence of highly successful African-Americans.

Over popcorn and soda last week, for instance, the first lady screened Tyler Perry’s “For Colored Girls” for about 50 guests, mostly black women.

“It was not political,” said E. Faye Williams, chairwoman of the National Congress of Black Women, who has known the president since his Senate days. But, Williams acknowledged, the guests were mostly “people [the first lady] has known through the campaign and others through the work that we do.”

Longtime friends continue to be her most intimate confidants. “Their closest friends are their friends from Chicago,” a White House aide said.

White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett — a friend from the first lady's days working in the Chicago mayor’s office — is a frequent dinner companion. Soon-to-depart chief of staff Susan Sher, another colleague from the mayor’s office, is her closest adviser. And Michelle Obama's mother, Marian Robinson, moved from Chicago to live at the White House.

Last summer, the first lady vacationed in Spain with her old pal Anita Blanchard, whose husband Marty Nesbitt is the president’s close friend. Chicago friends Eric and Cheryl Whitaker have joined the family on vacation in Hawaii and even at the president’s Nobel prize ceremony last year.

And when the Obamas have on the very rare occasion ventured out to private residences, it’s usually to Jarrett’s Georgetown condo, though they have made more-public outings to Five Guys, the International Spy Museum, the Kennedy Center and a host of restaurants across town.

One reason they don’t socialize more is familiar to all young parents — they either want or need to spend time with their kids. “It’s not like she can go out every night,” one friend of the first lady said.

And at least some of their informal socializing revolves around their daughters, Sasha and Malia.

“I talk to parents in their grade level who say the first lady is very accessible,” said Lee, whose daughter attends Sidwell Friends School with the Obamas' daughters. “She’s not standoffish just because she has Secret Service. It’s not a barrier. She takes time to get to know parents and their kids.”

The first lady, who had never really forged strong bonds with congressional wives when her husband was a senator, is now involved in school potlucks, award banquets and soccer games for her daughters, said people who run in the same social circles.
“She is very focused on being there for the kids,” one source said. “That’s her No. 1 goal.”

“They’ve made it clear they're not going to run back to Chicago every week,” Lee said. “This is their home. They’re going to be a part of it.”

Still, when the first couple arrived in Washington, there was an expectation that the Obamas — especially the first lady — would be more of a public presence.

Washingtonians had high hopes of rubbing shoulders with the first lady, as hairdressers lobbied to do her hair, women rushed to buy J. Crew cardigans and Good Stuff Eatery named a turkey burger the “Michelle Melt.”

"I think when they came in, there was this expectation that they would be this young hot couple and they would be out on the town and would pump some new blood into the social scene and that just hasn’t happened,” said Sally Quinn, journalist and Georgetown hostess. “They've kept very much to themselves.”

The first lady, Quinn added, has been all about "community outreach, not social outreach."

The Obama’s are “very funny people socially,” said the wife of one high-ranking Democrat. “The first lady is not inclusive at all,” she said. “It's one of the complaints people have, especially a lot of the congressional spouses."

In fact, spouses were miffed last year when the first lady didn’t host a traditional luncheon for them. Then-social secretary Desiree Rogers received a string of complaints, according to the wife of one Republican member.

Friends and associates of the Obamas dismiss such criticism with barely disguised contempt, as did people who were close to first ladies Laura Bush and Hillary Clinton,.

"It's not surprising that Washington socialites are unhappy that some of their tickets have been given to people that the first lady preferred to invite to White House — like wounded warriors, military families and community leaders from across the country,” said one Democrat close to the White House.

"But this criticism from Washington insiders is a small price to pay for opening the doors of the White House to more Americans than ever."

But Catherine Allgor, a history professor at the University of California at Riverside, who studies the "parlor politics" of first ladies, said it would be a mistake to dismiss the Washington social scene. “When it comes to politics, parties are never frivolous," she said.

And Allgor has some advice for Michelle Obama: “Get out there and start making friends.”

Anita McBride, who served as chief of staff to Laura Bush, said Obama is doing what other first ladies have done: establishing a “sanctuary” at home. “Creating a family life when you live above the store is an important thing to do,” she said.

But on the heels of the “shellacking” the Democrats received in the midterm election, “This is not a time to hunker down and retreat,” McBride said. “This is a time to use all the tools at your disposal to foster relationships. This is an opportunity where she can help her husband stay engaged and forge relationships, even with those who may not agree with you.”

Malaysiakini melaporkan:

Zaid guna taktik Anwar - gempaq!

Ramai bekas tentera hidup melarat

UMNO don't want Zaid, says Ku Nan

"Zaid, We have expelled him. Why should we take him back?"

That was the reply given by UMNO secretary-general Tengku Adnan Mansor when asked if the party would re-admit Datuk Zaid Ibrahim.

Stressing that Zaid would only give problems, Tengku Adnan added that Barisan Nasional (BN) did not want individuals who only wanted to pursue their own interests.

Last Monday, Zaid abruptly withdrew from the race for the Parti Keadilan Rakyat(PKR) deputy president's post amid claims that there had been irregularities in the election.

Following the decision, which he made through his blog, the former minister in the Prime Minister's Department went on to attack PKR top guns Anwar Ibrahim and Azmin Ali as the root cause of the party’s problems and that they must go to ensure the continued survival of the party.

Following Zaid's obvious fall out with PKR, allegations and counter allegations were thrown in both directions, including a desperate spin from Anwar and Azmin's camp spiced with allegations that Zaid was a "mole" - a claim that brought to the forefront Anwar's warning earlier about there now being some "Trojan Horses" in PKR.

The fiasco had even boiled over to drag non-PKR member lawyer Haris Ibrahim, who some claimed as carrying out a hatchet job for Zaid and Jeffrey Kitingan of Sabah, as well as former MCA millionaire John Soh Chee Wen.

There is still no end in sight as to which direction Zaid is taking for now, but the outlook will definitely be interesting.

Hwa Beng: God commands Christians to fight Islamic state

MCA's datuk Lee Hwa Beng said, "God commands Christians to fight Islamic state..."

Yup, ain't that a bigoted stance?

But then again Muslims, too, could say the same and no one beyond the parameters of that faith have the right credentials to oppose that notion. However, in Islam moderation is an honour.

Whatever extremism or fundamentalism - words coined, invariably, by detractors have never been part and parcel of the faith.

So, how do we manage such an outlook? Doesn't it give credence to the mindset of the person who made the statement?

Nik Aziz terduduk diasak soalan mengapungkan DAP

Sambil menegaskan Pakatan Rakyat memerlukan kepimpinan baru, Zaid berkata, “Mereka perlu menarik diri.”

Batu Sapi: Opposition campaigners barred from entering Kg Istimewa

Folks at Kampung Istimewa in Batu Sapi, Sandakan found it more convenient to ban opposition party campaigners from entering the village.

This surely had upset the Pakatan Rakyat coalition camp as well as SAPP.

If it's people power, why are they complaining? Isn't it so obvious they are only happy when the rakyat blindly follow THEM? Are they not condescending now?

Their philosophy that the majority is always right stinks though. As a God fearing person, we know God has from the time of Adam been passing the message of religious knowledge to Mankind, but the majority has always chosen to deny it or ignore it.

So much for the righteousness of the Majority. In this country, our Rukun Negara tells us to first accept that we all must accept and believe in a God Creator. This is the first statement in Rukun negara.

All Divine religions advocate social justice, though not necessarily in the way their perverted minds interpret that. Its mainly those who support the likes of Kit Siang and Karpal who don't believe in Divine Revelation.

Anyway, who are they to pass moral judgment? Like someone said, going by their advocation of meting out justice by Meritocracy, were the US universities to now faithfully implement that, U.S. universities would not have any place for U.S. students and instead they would be full of ONLY those from Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Israel , Germany etc.

What a gas! Plans for debates fizzle out

At first no one believed that the debate between SAPP president Yong Teck Lee and Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman would materialise.

However, when the press kept being informed and 'updated' about it, the notion began to take root and the corps of reporters in Batu Sapi took notice.

The tip-off became all the more credible when Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) candidate for P185 Bukit Sapi parliamentary by-election Ansari Abdullah was said to have announced a three-cornered debate of his own, comprising his detractors Yong and Barisan Nasional candidate Linda Tsen Thau Lin.

But at the end it turned out that all the debates did not take place. No one turned up.

Although knowing that their opponents would just ignore their challenge, they still went about it for publicity sake.

While Linda Tsen turned down Ansari's invite, Musa on the other hand was of the opinion that a debate with Yong would be a futile effort. Similarly, Yong, too, turned down Ansari's challenge for a debate at Sandakan's Dewan Hakka, and said that it would be more worthwhile to take on Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, instead.

Left alone, Yong, nevertheless proceeded to turn the non-event at Dewan Hakka into a ceramah, during which Ansari actually turned up but was instead told that it would not happen as Musa had rejected it.

Meanwhile, at Sandakan's Sanbay Hotel where Ansari was supposed to have another debate with Tsen and Yong, the event turned out to be a campaign speech by Anwar.

He keeps falling, this Ansari...

When he fell the first time, his spin was that the BN government did not do its job in helping with basic infrastructure on the islands of Batu Sapi.

But, then PKR’s candidate for the P185 Batu Sapi parliamentary seat Ansari Abdullah fell yet AGAIN the second time yestarday at 3.45 p.m. Now, how will he spin that?

Funny thing was the platform, gangplank and walkway at the villages did not give way when locals as well as BN campaigners used it umpteen times daily. So, what’s with this Ansari guy?

Could his falling into the sea be a portentious sign of the shape of things to come for not only the PKR candidate in Batu Sapi, but also Sabah state?

Last Wednesday Ansari, his campaign manager Oting Enchi and an NTV&7 broadcast journalist were unceremoniously dunked into the sea when a wooden bridge gave way.

“Never underestimate such omens,” so said folks living in the area.

Maybe it is true, as for centuries, they have lived off the islands and the seas in these area and through all those time their culture had tightly embraced the real world and that of the spirits and fairies. They know better, I suppose.

Today’s mishap happened when Ansari and his entourage, which included the Menteri Besar of Selangor Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim were in the midst of their house to house campaign rounds at Kampung Gas.

Of voter's apathy and disgust in Batu Sapi

No luxuries for this blogger in Batu Sapi. Accommodation is a spartan dig in downtown Sandakan where the poorer people go.For walkabouts, well its just walking and taking the mini buses, choked by diesel fumes that blow in your face.

But, I guess this is the best way to go to savor and feel the real heartbeat of the place in the run up to the Batu Sapi by-election.

A ramble through the boisterous town centre, rubbing shoulders with the PATIs who commute daily from the outlying islands to sell whatever they can in this here parts and watching how the common folks go through their daily grind, one can see where the Opposition lot is coming from.

Spoke to a small cross section of the people and all I hear were laments and incredulity. Apathy seems to rule, as either they are ignorant of what is going on politically here, or they have just resigned themselves to whatever fate and destiny dictate.

The Chinese traders - the real ones who ensconced themselves in the alley ways or holding on to rebuilt second world war enterprises founded by their fathers and grand fathers, the strain is again of repressed anger. At a kopitiam just off Jalan Pryer, Mr Foo poured out his disgust for what he claimed to be the name of Sabah politics being played over and over again- MONEY.

Mr Foo held no punches. Shrugging his shoulders he said, "election time, they come give this and that, we people take la...but you think we vote for them, ah? What you think?"

After getting similar reactions from several others elsewhere, I guess the fight will be tough for PBS and BN, although it is not too late to repent.

Outside the landed circle, Datin Linda is but a distant star, devoid of radiance that could reach the masses from her lofty social and political heights in the Land below the Wind. The notion that her being named came as a great 'tai-chi' move could be true at this juncture, but not because she she has what it takes to win, but because the detractors are ill formed and in disarray.

But, on the other side it will also not be easy, with Yong Teck Lee going it alone with his SAPP and grumbles from the PKR lot, who just hated the fact that Ansari Abdullah has been given the baton.

Surely looks like the days ahead are yet undefined despite intense campaigning that will kick off soon after nominations tomorrow morning. The candidates will spew promises with endless baby hugging and hand pumping, but beyond that facade are lots of uncertainties. The only sure side are the voters.

Fikir-fikirkanlah...

Saman saja Malaysian Insider...

The views of a constipated mind - Tony Pua's

Convoluted...

That was the state of DAP's Tony Pua's mind when he accused Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak of using " rhetoric and falsehood" to evoke anger among Malay civil servants to ensure their continued allegiance and support for the Government.

He said, "the Prime Minister revealed his true self when he took to task government officers who did not show blind allegiance to UMNO."

Pua was referring to Najib's speech when launching an UMNO Club for retired senior government officers Seri Perdana recently.

The bigoted mind of this DAP National Publicity Secretary dimly construed what Najib said as reflecting himself as "PERKASA's" true warrior."

And according to Pua, it was because of this that Najib avoided from directly criticising PERKASA.

With such a closed mind, is it any surprise that Pua spewed such shallow and misguided views?...never mind that his consipated mind is a product of Oxford University's Keble College.

What a shame...

To Azmin Gobala is nothing more than a pariah

PKR's contender for the party's no. 2 position Azmin Ali could have been proud to be called a loose cannon in politics, if one looks at it from a different perspective.

It could connote a certain bravado and macho individualistic characteristic. However, when it comes to Azmin such praises are earned all for the wrong reasons.

They say power is nothing without control, as such Azmin's intransigence is slowly creating a personal island on which he stands that may just place him as a political castaway within the ranks of PKR, or even Pakatan Rakyat.

Calling Padang Serai PKR MP Gobalakrishna a pariah only reflects the rotten stuff that he was born with. Whats with this guy, Azmin?

As an aspirant for PKR's no. 2, who is fighting hands and teeth to clinch sweet victory, trampling the rights of the others in the competition for position in the so-called reformist party, he sure lacked tact and human skills and instead proven to posses inherent racist traits in his persona both as a person and a politician.

What happened to Gobala is yet another proof of how Azmin uses the notion of fairness, liberalism and equality for all Malaysians as just a facade that hides his true self - a racist no less.

Pro-government bloggers are always against abuse and corruption

Looking at things objectively about current going ons, it is only proof that the pro-government bloggers are always against abuse and corruption, but they don't gloat like most of their counterparts in the opposition, who are really good at that!

We thank them for trying to ride on our hard efforts to fight corruption.

The war against corruption is not the monopoly of the opposition. On the side of the Government, it is even institutionalized so that it carries it out professionally and far more effectively by training specially chosen people to fight evil manipulators and perpetrators.

However, no matter how hard they try, all they get are loads of vitriolic criticisms. It is really a thankless job

When the MACC or the Auditor General do their job, they do not chose sides. On the other hand, has the Selangor or Penang government been audited yet? And the main concern is: are they sure they are fighting corruption? Or is it merely a ploy to gain power?

Are their bloggers sure evil politicians are not using their naievity for political advantage? Is there no cronyism in the DAP, PAS, and PKR? Aren't Karpal Singh and Lim Kit Siang overstaying their welcome?

What about the recent crisis in Perak?

We have observed worse things in Selangor and Penang since 2008, with numerous issues being exposed - stealing of sand, abuse of official letter heads, etc.

Press Statement from MCMC on the allocation of the 2600MHz spectrum

PRESS STATEMENT: ALLOCATION OF 2600MHz SPECTRUM

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has started spectrum re-farming exercise and processes as part of its efforts to enhance the utilisation of spectrum and to facilitate the roll out of next generation mobile network services.

The exercise involved the following bands:

i) 700MHz;
ii) 800MHz;
iii) 850MHz;
iv) 900MHz;
v) 1800MHz; and
vi) 2600MHz

Following the exercise, MCMC has decided to give focus to the allocation of the 2600MHz band to pave the way for the early adoption of long-term evolution (LTE) or 4G, and other new technologies and to prepare the service providers for the rollout and implementation of these services to end-users.

After a consultative and deliberation process with various technical groups, it was decided that the assignment of 2600MHz to be given to nine (9) companies who are license holders that meet the set requirements.

The allocation of the assignment is done in accordance to the provisions of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (CMA).

The companies include incumbents (existing 3G and WiMAX players) and a new entrant: They are:

i) Celcom Axiata Berhad;
ii) Maxis Broadband Sdn Bhd;
iii) DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd;
iv) U-Mobile Sdn Bhd;
v) Asiaspace Sdn Bhd;
vi) Packet One Networks (M) Sdn Bhd;
vii) RedTone Marketing Sdn Bhd;
viii) YTL Communications Sdn Bhd; and
ix) Puncak Semangat Sdn Bhd.

The committee had identified these companies as having the ability to promote innovation and to provide seamless continuity of existing services using new technologies. MCMC also recognizes the contributions made by the wireless service providers towards the fulfilling the objectives of the National Broadband Initiatives.

The companies are required to pay fees in order to use the spectrum band and will NOT receive grants of any kind from MCMC or the Universal Service Provision (USP) Fund for the utilization of the spectrum. The USP Fund is for the development and deployment of communications facilities for rural development.

MCMC has issued letters to the license holders on the allocation of the 2600MHz spectrum band for rolling out wireless broadband service using 4G technology by 1 January 2013. The assignment of the 2600MHz spectrum band will be based on the merit of the Detailed Business Plans (DBP) to be submitted by the license holders to meet the requirements of the allocation.

The assignment of the spectrum band is by way of apparatus assignment and MCMC has the right to withdraw the assigned spectrum at any time if companies fail to comply with the set terms and conditions.

Among the key requirements in the assignment of spectrum are roll out targets and their roles as promoter and developer of applications and contents that will help build a ubiquitous Malaysia lifestyle by 2020.

Gutter journalism among 'prominent' bloggers have to stop!

It has been over two days that blogger Rocky echoed and amplified allegations about Minister of Information, Communications and Culture Datuk Seri Rais Yatim allocating parcels of the 2.6MHz spectrum to some parties, including his flesh and blood.

It was a rumour and a nasty one at that. This blogger does not know DS Rais personally, save for the several times I had to interview him through the years as a journalist.

Of course, it is ok for journalists to question a minister about such things, but then again, do conform to journalistic ethics and have the courtesy to meet up with him to clarify the matter.

It is hitting below the belt when respected journalists join the gutter folks to have the man in their cross hair just because some smart alec journalist 'broke' the so-called story based on pure rumour.

After reading a multitude of comments either supporting or opposing the 'accusation' in at least two blogs, I have even been informed by another blogger that Big Dog, had even declared he was willing to face the police.

Now, questions, all answered are wildly flying all over as to where this nasty rumour would finally come to roost.

If it stays at that, I suppose it is just another poor attempt at pandering to some unsavory parties in the run up to the UMNO Pemilihan next year to move DS Rais out of the way and nudge someone else to fill the void.

Nazri: another chameleon in Najib's midst

What is it with the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Nazri?

His attempt at political volte face may not easily absolve him from his earlier diatribes that among others included saying the National Civics Bureau, BTN needed to revamp its controversial co-curriculum to be in line with the 1Malaysia concept. He said this last year, if I am not mistaken sometime in November.

After provoking a backlash from many parties, this chameleon like UMNO "stalwart" and a "true blue" 1Malaysia politician to boot (so he claimed), he now comes around to defend BTN and rubbished claims that its programmes promoted racism.

But, of course, BTN had never been racist all along. All the hoo-haa came from those who had a marked distaste of seeing or hearing Malays claiming their birthright as indicated by the Constitution.

Nazri's latest stand was by saying that the cases involving BTN were isolated incidents and were not orchestrated by the institution itself.

Maybe Nazri has come to his senses at last, but knowing the unpredictability of his temperament, I would not bet on it just yet.

Perhaps, I may give him leeway as a Muslim and a Malay but then again, its best we be ever more wary of his next move.

In his attempt to correct his earlier indiscretion and foot-in-mouth affliction Nazri today told reporters that the were no modules in BTN which promoted racism.

He said "...we have to look at the what the issue was here." In the present case when a BTN contract officer was taken to task for allegedly saying something racist, he blamed it in the personnel.

What Nazri said during the last few days had earned him brownie points among BTN's detractors, especially the Opposition. Short of hugging and kissing him they applauded his saying "I'm Malaysian first, Malay second."

Now that Nazri has come full circle, will his new-found friends in the Opposition and the pockets of cross-eyed and blinkered Malaysians rush to congratulate him? No, of course not. That will not do.

He has to entrench himself in the firing position of BTN detractors to redeem his credits.

A note to Serdang MP Teoh Nie Ching

Serdang MP Teo Nie Ching said, "...from a Christian point of view, a place of worship should welcome anyone of any faith as it was a chance for anyone to know more about a particular religion."

Well, that is a Christian point of view, dear YB. What you did was to transgress upon what any sensible Malay Muslims in Malaysia would look upon as an act of disrespect. And you have the audacity to pick on a Christian POV to justify your action? Wrong move again.

Can you come clean with your conscience that your presence at the inner sanctum of the said surau was to know more about Islam? Please spare me this. You are a politician and we all know what politicians are like, especially those in the likes of you, who would jump at any opportunity for cheap publicity.

For your information, mosques in Malaysia frown if not forbid politically-motivated acts by any of its kariah members or congregation. Should they want to do it they have to do it outside of the perimeters of the that hallowed place of worship.

And dont you dare tell me that a Muslim Malay views of how a mosque or surau be treated be dictated from a Christian perspective. That is just not right. It only reflects how you have not leaarned even a wee bit about our sensitivities.

And what about your implying that the Malays and Muslims practise black magic to have non Muslims come into Islam? That is downright seditious. Islam never at any point allow the practise of black magic or satanic rites. Care to elaborate on what you said, then?

YB, all in all what I can say is that as a Member of Parliament of Serdang you have a long way to go really represent the whole spectrum of your constituency.

"Menang sorak, kampung tergadai," kata Zulkifli.

Sekarang apa dah jadi?

Nazri did that for PM?

Those who have not read fully the criticisms by Mingguan Malaysia's Awang Selamat on 26 September 2010 against Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz and only read his reply published by The Star on 27 September will have the impression that Utusan Malaysia was racist.

The Star had succeeded in accomplising this vile intent since most of its readers did not read Mingguan Malaysia. The newspaper spinned Nazri's words and made it look like he meant Utusan "would take a long time to accept that Malaysia belonged to all races."

Nazri said, "...to be a Malaysian one need not necessarily be anti Malay."

Awang Selamat did not question if Nazri had wanted to feel like a Malay or Malaysian, but it only drew attention to the latter's attitude, which apparently received praise from the DAP and the Chinese press to the extent that he was elevated to the status of a superhero who swooped from the sky.

Nazri went on to belittle Utusan Malaysia by saying that Awang was narrow-minded and his views were only suitable for the 60s.

Without regards to the sentiments of the people, Nazri arrogantly proclaimed that he only worked for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib, who had appointed him with consent from His Majesty the Yang DiPertuan Agong.

Consequently, the question that arose in the mind of the Malays was whether the Prime Minister did actually direct him to run down Utusan Melayu and paint an ugly image of the vernacular newspaper among the non-Malays.

So, if Nazri is of the opinion that Utusan Melayu was representative of the mindset of the 60s, why then would the opposition parties of the 21st century feel intimidated and in collussion try not only to isolate it, but worse, to use Nazri to hide the true face of non-Malays by saying that Utusan Melayu was racist.

Nazri perlu tutup mulut

Mengata dulang paku serpih...

Baca tentang kepincangan mereka berikutnya:

Muhamad, menarik diri.
