Britain takes seriousness over swine flu to next level...

Medical leaders today recommended that cut in doctor’s working hours in Britain be suspended during the swine flu pandemic.

The European Working Time Directive is due to come into force on Saturday, forcing National Health Service (NHS) trusts to ensure that no doctor works more than 48 hours in a week.

But Britain’s top surgeon has urged ministers to postpone the start date due to the ongoing H1N1 flu pandemic, warning that the dual pressures on the NHS could be “catastrophic”.
